Note from Pastor Ryan re: Project Blessing

Some helpful hints for being effective with project blessing

If you have taken the time to read the project blessing testimonies (see posts below) – then you’ve probably noticed how amazing our first project was.  One thing I have noticed is that nothing impacts your experience of the project as much as how you approach it.  So I’d like to give you a few helpful suggestions as you are beginning.

Hint #1- Make everything a matter of prayer.
When it comes to project blessing; prayer is absolutely essential.  The whole point of this movement is to bless others for Jesus.  We are joining Him in His movement of building His kingdom and blessing the world.  In other words – we want to do what Jesus is leading us to do.  Nothing connects us to this like prayer.  My suggestion:  Start praying Sunday night or monday morning asking God to show you whom you can bless and how you can do it.

Hint #2- Consider the physical, spiritual and emotional needs around you.
These are very tangible ways to bless someone.  It can be as simple as buying someone lunch, or doing the dishes for your wife – or buying your wife a massage, etc.  Everybody has needs and we don’t need to spend gazillions to meet them.  Look for these needs and ways to bless others.

Hint #3- Create a clear plan, then execute it.
It’s so easy how time can fly on us!  The best way to make sure this doesn’t happen is to create a clear plan that will clearly help you execute your blessing idea.  Then go do it!

Hint #4- Do this journey with your accountability partner.
Debbi will be emailing you with information regarding your accountability partner.  Let me encourage you to communicate your plans with them weekly.  You can send them a quick email or text – meet with them for coffee – or something else as long as you are not doing this alone.

These are four hints that I believe will help you to maximize your experience with the project.  God certainly has His own plans for you in this and will use you for whatever purposes He has.  Thank you for joining us in this project!  I’m praying for us to be a force of blessing in this town over the next three months; and get so excited to think of all that the Lord will do with us during this time.  May God bless you in the months ahead!

In Christ,
Ryan Low

What is Project Blessing?

Project Blessing 2
You are invited to join us in a return to THE PROJECT!
So what does this mean?  What is project blessing?  We’re so glad you asked!
Here’s a short description:
When? April 21st- July 21st.
What is it? A group movement whose aim is to bless others.  What does it mean “to Bless”.  It means to meet a physical, emotional or spiritual need.
We bless people in our family and friend networks; our church; and our community.
How?
1. At the beginning of every week we ask the Lord to lead us to whom in our family and friend network we can bless for the week.  we bless someone in this network once a week.  it doesn’t have to be extravagant- but we need to do something intentionally.
2. We will bless our church once a month.  The aim is to find some way to bless our church.  Please consider that while tithing is a huge blessing- that this would not be included in the list of possible ways to bless the church.  Tithing is wonderful and definitely needed.  We would encourage you to tithe AND THEN bless the church in an additional way.
3. Lastly find a way to bless the community once during the 3 month duration of the project.  if you’d like to do so more- this is fine as well.
Where do I go to get involved?  please let us know if you are going to be involved.  We will include you on a special email list to receive encouraging emails, challenges and updates.
If you have further questions please feel free to email us. Check out the testimonies of people who joined the project the first time we did it (below).
This leads us to a final question:  If we already did this; why do it again?
The movement of blessing is to be a lifestyle.  Sometimes we need to be returned to important movements like this to have a truth reminded and refreshed for us.
Please consider joining us on this epic three month journey.  you’ll be blessed as you bless others!

Project Blessing Testimonies from 2011

Project Blessing

We were so blessed by flowers, meals, babysitting, kind words and emails of encouragement. This project really was used by God to make Sunland our home. It felt like home before but now even more so. Thank you for giving of yourselves to create a home here for us. It's strange to say-but blessing the school was a blessing to me. I learned how to surrender to the Lord. How He would want to do things-designing things-rally people to help-and not to move forward on how I thought would be best. Also watching how the Lord brought furniture, funds, hands that know how to restore, paint and sew together. I loved watching this church come and bless the teachers! His love is continually felt in that place.

–Alyssa Low

I have been blessed to have the opportunity to share the Lord's faithfulness with many in doctor's offices, business people, people calling on the phone (even telemarketers) and to see God's hand at work as a result of those who have prayed for my needs.                                                                     –Frankie Paslay

Pastor Duke has been a blessing with all his insight and practical examples, and his humor. Jeff Smith and the worship team are a blessing. Jeff is so into the music; gives his heart and soul. The music brings me to tears at times.

I help Ginger Clayton with her doctor appointments and medications. I also help in a small way with the loves and fishes ministry.

Being closer to family in Lodi and my mom is doing better.

I had to wait most of the year but I got a good job close to home, interesting program, good and talented people and I work within a maturing and gracious environment, how blessed am I. During this year I was blessed by a core group pf friends, who kept me inspired and blessed me with their support. How blessed I've been to have a such loving friends, and a number of people in the church showed me support and encouragement.

  • My wife and boys for their thoughtfulness toward me bless me.

I volunteer teaching music at the World Impact School one day a week. The students are really enthusiastic and the staff is very appreciative of what I do. This year I had a lot of students asking for piano lessons. I now have a waiting list there and the students are doing well. The only downside to all this is the drive to L.A.
