I want to invite you to watch this youtube link this week.

This is a song we will be doing quite often this year it’s called: “Jesus, son of God”.

This song is a simple and wonderful reminder of the amazing greatness of Jesus and his incredible love for us. We need to have both truths be firmly in our minds.

Please enjoy this song as much as you can. Have a wonderful week!

A Call to Protect

Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s second look.

For this week I invite you to read the story of Joseph in Luke 2:1-20 and Matthew 2:1-12. Read it several times this week. Close your eyes and picture the scene in your mind, or even try to put yourself in the shepherd’s and the Magi’s shoes. What thoughts, emotions do you feel in this passage? What things to do notice or observe? On Sunday we will get into this story and my hope is for you to spend some time with it this week!

We are in the home stretch- Christmas is this upcoming Sunday! May God bless you and your loved ones in this final week! Merry Christmas!!!!

Pastor Ryan

A Call to Prepare

Close your eyes and picture the scene in your mind, or even try to put yourself in Mary’s shoes. What thoughts, emotions do you feel in this passage? What things to do notice or observe. On Sunday we will get into this story and my hope is for you to spend some time with it this week!

I hope you are having a wonderful Christmas season!!!!

Worship is Forever

2nd Look- 11.28.16

Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s second look.

For these next few weeks I will be shifting gears a little bit and doing more specifically Advent themed second looks.

For this week I’d like to invite you to read the story of Zechariah in Luke 5:1-25. Maybe try to read it several times this week. Try to close your eyes and picture the scene in your mind, or even try to put yourself in Zechariah’s shoes. What thoughts, emotions do you feel in this passage? What things do you notice or observe? On Sunday we will get into this story and my hope is for you to spend some time with it this week!

Also if you want more information about Advent; here’s a link that helps explain it.

http://www.christianity.com/christian-life/christmas/what-is-advent.html

The article explains that Advent is intended to be a time of fasting and this fasting aligns us with being expectant and even mourning over the state of our world- waiting for the return of our Savior. Have you ever fasted?

Fasted is the intentional giving up of something in order to turn towards prayer. What I’ve done during the advent season is to fast something and every time I desire that thing I’m fasting, I turn towards God in prayer remembering that we are in a season of waiting. Perhaps you might consider fasting something.

Anyway, let’s have a wonderful week and enjoy this season of looking forward to that time when we will see our Savior face to face; and also look forward to that time where we can celebrate his birth!

Have a great week!

Hinderances to Worship

2nd Look

Nov. 21, 2016

Hello Everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving!

This week I’d like to invite you to consider this verse:

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

Hebrews 12:1

DeRon spoke on Sunday about the things that hinder us in our journey of worship. I have to say I absolutely loved the direction he went with this sermon. The 5 hindrances he talked about are so true and very profound. If you didn’t get a chance to hear the sermon- please feel free to go on our website. You will find his sermon loaded there.

One thing DeRon focused on was our need to have an attitude of gratitude. As I listened to him I thought of this Hebrews verse and how we need to strip off the things that so easily hinder us and way us down. My invitation to you this week- is to not let anything hinder you in being grateful. Take time each day to consider what you have to be grateful for!

Have a wonderful holiday everyone. You are loved by our Heavenly Father; and by me. See you Sunday!

Tithing As Worship

2nd Look 11.15.16

Hi folks,

Welcome to this week’s second look.

For this week I’d simply like to invite you to take time each day to read and reflect on 2 Corinthians 9:1-15. As the week progresses what seems to emerge to you from this passage? This passage has been a great comfort and encouragement to me this past week as I was preparing for Sunday’s sermon. I truly hope it will encourage you as well.

Have a great week everyone and may the peace of God be upon you all!

Pastor Ryan

Worshipping Together

2nd Look 11.08.16

Hi folks and welcome to the 2nd Look for this week.

I want to simply invite you to consider this question this week:

Who is spurring me on towards love and good deeds?

Who am I spurring on?

These are 2 great questions for us to wrestle with? My hope is that each of us would be able to answer this question when asked because I truly believe this will enrich your life with God. We are meant to worship Him with our lives and we are meant to do that with others!

Take some time this week and consider these simple questions. You may want to write down the names that come to mind. If you cannot think of someone, take some time to pray about this and ask God whom He might want you to move towards; so that this can be a part of your life.

I truly believe one of the greatest gifts God gives us, is actually the relationships we have with each other. It’s not always easy- sometimes it just flat out goes haywire- but the potential involved in this may actually be worth the risk. I can look back over my life and it is relationships that were and are deeply significant to me that have changed my life for the better. I pray they will do the same for you!

May God remind you of his love for you this week!

What’s the Big Deal About Music?

2nd Look 10.31.16

Howdy everyone!

Today is Halloween… We have a wonderful opportunity to serve our community tonight through our annual “Trunk R Treat” event. Please be in prayer for this event that God would bless it.

This week I want to basically give you a song to consider with me. I want to invite you to let this song minister to you as you progress through this week.

I have loved this song for quite some time. It’s a song written from the perspective of God talking to us. Where do we find our strength; courage and hope?

My hope is this song will bless you. Attached below is the link to the song on YouTube. I’ve also included the song lyrics for you to read as you listen.

Have a great day everyone and make sure you eat as much candy as humanly possible!!!! Haha- just kidding. But may God’s peace be with you all this week!

Believe me now

By Steven Curtis Chapman

I watch you looking out across the raging water
So sure your only hope lies on the other side
You hear the enemy that’s closing in around you
And I know that you don’t have the strength to fight

But do you have the faith to stand

And believe me now, believe me here
Remember all the times I’ve told you loud and clear
I am with you and I am for you
So believe me now, believe me now

I am the one who waved my hand and split the ocean
I am the one who spoke the words and raised the dead
I’ve loved you long before I set the world in motion
I know all the fears you’re feeling now

But do you remember who I am?

Will you believe me now, believe me here
Remember all the times I’ve told you loud and clear

I am with you and I am for you

So believe me now, believe it’s true
I never have, I never will abandon you
And the God that I have always been

I will forever be, so believe me now

I am the God who never wastes a single hurt that you endure
My words are true and all my promises are sure

So believe me now, oh believe me now

So believe me now, believe me here
Remember all the times I’ve told you loud and clear

I am with you and I am for you

So believe me now, believe it’s true
I never have I never will abandon you
And the God that I have always been
I will forever be, so believe me now

Believe me now, believe me now

What the Psalms Teach Us About Worship

2nd Look- 10.24.16

“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Matthew 9:35-38

Hi everyone and welcome to 2nd Look!

During our sermon this past weekend, we talked about how God wants us to bring requests to Him. I spoke about our children’s and youth ministries- how we have a great harvest occurring there and yet our workers are few. I asked our congregation to first and foremost be praying for God to send workers into the harvest.

I would like to ask you to commit yourself to prayer for these ministries that God would raise up men and women to step into these ministries to help the young ones find Jesus and grow in their relationships with Him.

Folks we have a wonderful blessing- vibrant ministries in our church where the gospel is being preached and discipleship can happen. WE MUST BE VIGILANT AND SERIOUS ABOUT THIS. It starts with prayer.

Please join me praying this week for our youth and children’s ministries- and in particular; praying for workers! Have a great week everybody and may God grant you His wonderful and incomparable peace!
