Hello Everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving!

This week I’d like to invite you to consider this verse:

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

Hebrews 12:1

 

DeRon spoke on Sunday about the things that hinder us in our journey of worship. I have to say I absolutely loved the direction he went with this sermon. The 5 hindrances he talked about are so true and very profound. If you didn’t get a chance to hear the sermon- please feel free to go on our website. You will find his sermon loaded there.

 

One thing DeRon focused on was our need to have an attitude of gratitude. As I listened to him I thought of this Hebrews verse and how we need to strip off the things that so easily hinder us and way us down. My invitation to you this week- is to not let anything hinder you in being grateful. Take time each day to consider what you have to be grateful for!

Tithing As Worship

Hi folks,

Welcome to this week’s second look.

For this week I’d simply like to invite you to take time each day to read and reflect on 2 Corinthians 9:1-15. As the week progresses what seems to emerge to you from this passage? This passage has been a great comfort and encouragement to me this past week as I was preparing for Sunday’s sermon. I truly hope it will encourage you as well.

Worshipping Together

2nd Look 11.08.16

Hi folks and welcome to the 2nd Look for this week.

 

I want to simply invite you to consider this question this week:

Who is spurring me on towards love and good deeds?

Who am I spurring on?

These are 2 great questions for us to wrestle with? My hope is that each of us would be able to answer this question when asked because I truly believe this will enrich your life with God. We are meant to worship Him with our lives and we are meant to do that with others!

Take some time this week and consider these simple questions. You may want to write down the names that come to mind. If you cannot think of someone, take some time to pray about this and ask God whom He might want you to move towards; so that this can be a part of your life.

I truly believe one of the greatest gifts God gives us, is actually the relationships we have with each other. It’s not always easy- sometimes it just flat out goes haywire- but the potential involved in this may actually be worth the risk. I can look back over my life and it is relationships that were and are deeply significant to me that have changed my life for the better. I pray they will do the same for you!

May God remind you of his love for you this week!

What’s the Big Deal About Music?

Howdy everyone!

Today is Halloween… We have a wonderful opportunity to serve our community tonight through our annual “Trunk R Treat” event. Please be in prayer for this event that God would bless it.

This week I want to basically give you a song to consider with me. I want to invite you to let this song minister to you as you progress through this week.

I have loved this song for quite some time. It’s a song written from the perspective of God talking to us. Where do we find our strength; courage and hope?

What the Psalms Teach Us About Worship

2nd Look- 10.24.16

 

“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Matthew 9:35-38

 

Hi everyone and welcome to 2nd Look!

During our sermon this past weekend, we talked about how God wants us to bring requests to Him. I spoke about our children’s and youth ministries- how we have a great harvest occurring there and yet our workers are few. I asked our congregation to first and foremost be praying for God to send workers into the harvest.

   I would like to ask you to commit yourself to prayer for these ministries that God would raise up men and women to step into these ministries to help the young ones find Jesus and grow in their relationships with Him.

            Folks we have a wonderful blessing- vibrant ministries in our church where the gospel is being preached and discipleship can happen. WE MUST BE VIGILANT AND SERIOUS ABOUT THIS. It starts with prayer.

 

     Please join me praying this week for our youth and children’s ministries- and in particular; praying for workers! Have a great week everybody and may God grant you His wonderful and incomparable peace!

How Worship Is Meant To Be Lived – Humble Submission

2nd Look 10.17.16

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the 2nd look.

I want to give you this biblical passage for you to consider this week:

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9

What would it look like for us to take time to think about the things this scripture has called us to think about? What are these things in your life? I’d like to invite you to give yourself some time each day to think about this passage and the things it mentions. It doesn’t need to be all day long- you could start with a 5 minute mind renewal exercise and then grow it from there if you feel you can. The point is to have our minds centered on the things mentioned in this passage. We have to start somewhere. Join me with this during the week; I think you’ll be surprised to see how refreshing it can be.

This week I’d like to invite you to read Psalm 8 multiple times, if not daily. Really let it sit with you and consider what David is saying about God’s greatness and who we are as humans. This is a beautiful psalm that seems to capture the heart of what we are talking about right now with worship.

Meet Your Father (Father’s Day)

2nd Look 6.21.16
Hello everyone! Welcome to this week’s 2nd look.
This will be my final 2nd look for a while as I am embarking on my sabbatical starting tomorrow!

This past Sunday we looked at who God is as our Father!

My invitation to you this week is to spend some time reading one of Jesus’ greatest illustrations on God’s love to us as a father: Luke 15:11-32. It is one of the most powerful and beautiful stories of God’s love to us as a father.

Take some time to sit with this story. Read it several times this week and let it speak to you. As you read the story ask yourself- what do you notice about the way the father loves the son?

The Door Opener – Brave Conversations

2nd Look 6.14.16

Hello everyone!

This is the final 2nd look for our “Got the skills” series…

As you progress through this week I want to make 2 invitations to you.

#1- Open each day with a simple prayer: “Lord would you allow me to have a brave conversation with someone today? Who would you want me to talk with?

#2- Take some time to read 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8. As God provides you with opportunities to have brave conversations, try to be the things you see in this passage. Try to be more loving.

As you do these two things, and embark on brave conversations, you may very well be shocked to see just how God leads and uses you this week.
